Kristen Mangione started dancing at a very early age. Her love of movement and self-expression has created a life -long involvement with the art form. Early training included the High School Performing Arts Program in Dance, Somerset, NJ, New Jersey Governor’s School of the Arts, and the Center Dance Collective. She received a BA in Dance from Smith College as well as a Degree in Dance Studies from the Laban Centre, London. Since coming to New York, she has danced with Bill T. Jones, Nancy Zendora, Chris Ferris and Vanessa Paige. Her own choreography has been presented in New York City, New Jersey, New England, Chicago and London. She has also worked in arts administration and production for American Ballet Theatre, The Juilliard School and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. From 2000-2004 she served on the Board of The Gender Project, a collective of women choreographers engaged in the question of gender and professional opportunities in dance. In addition to dancing, she is currently a Certified Ohashiatsu® Consultant and Instructor. Combining movement, holistic healing and bodywork, her practice focuses on bringing others into harmony and health. She is the owner and founder of ZenTouch Wellness Center, Hoboken, NJ, www.zentouch.org, a collective of holistic professionals offering Ohashiatsu, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, meditation and yoga. |
